Awaaz Punjab is a small newsroom, so our checking has to be a system, not a mood. This page is that system — the rules every story on this site is published under, in plain words.
1. Two sources before anything breaks. Every breaking story is confirmed by at least two independent sources — two outlets or agencies that are not simply copying each other — before we publish it. If a story is moving too fast for that, we either wait, or we publish only what is confirmed and say clearly what is not yet confirmed.
2. Sources are named in the story. Every article names where its facts come from — the agency, newspaper, official record or person — with the date. If you cannot see where a claim came from, that is our failure, and we want to hear about it.
3. Allegations are labelled allegations. An accusation by police, a political party, a gang or anyone else is reported as exactly that — an allegation — until it is proven or officially established. An arrest is not a conviction, and our headlines say so.
4. An official post proves the announcement, not the claim. When a minister, a police force or a public figure posts on X or another social platform, that post is a primary source for one thing only: that they made the announcement. The claims inside the announcement still need independent checking, and we treat them that way.
5. Our live clocks are estimates, and we say so. The debt and population counters are models, not official live feeds. They are built on named official data — the Reserve Bank of India's State Finances reports, Census and SRS-based population projections, and Punjab Budget documents — and each clock page explains its method and names its sources, linked below. Read the last digits as an estimate, because that is what they are.
6. Corrections are visible. If we get something wrong, we correct the story openly — we do not quietly rewrite history. To report an error, use the Contact page, linked below: every correction request is checked, and fixes are published.
These rules are the whole product. If a story on this site ever breaks one of them, tell us: awaazpunjabofficial@gmail.com.
