Chandigarh, October 20: Punjab Cabinet Minister and AAP Punjab president Aman Arora on Tuesday welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Punjab while putting four questions to him on drug trafficking and border security.

"Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Punjab today. He will be meeting families that have been affected by drugs. The Punjab Government welcomes Amit Shah Ji to Punjab," Arora said. He then posed his questions: "Why is the Central Government failing to secure the 543-kilometre international border that Punjab shares with Pakistan? Why is it that 3,000 kilograms of heroin lands at the Mundra Port in Gujarat and is distributed across the entire country?" He also asked how chitta (synthetic heroin) entered Punjab and gangster culture flourished between 2007 and 2017, when the BJP–Akali Dal coalition was in power, and — if gangsters and drugs fall under law and order — what the situation is in BJP-ruled states.

Allegations (made by Arora): Referring to the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, Arora alleged that the shooters were residents of Haryana and said Haryana had become a nursery for gangsters in the country; he urged Shah to order an investigation into the matter. Responding to BJP leader Sunil Jakhar's claim that drugs were not entering Punjab through the international border, Arora suggested they might instead be coming from Gujarat. The 3,000-kg Mundra figure and the claim about the shooters' home state are Arora's assertions in these reports; Awaaz Punjab has not independently verified them here, and no response from Shah or the BJP to the four questions had been reported at the time of drafting.

On the murder of Parminder Singh Jhota in Mansa, Arora said the government had consistently stood by the family and had decided to hand the investigation to the CBI on the family's demand. Asked about a viral video allegedly showing drug tablets being sold at a barber shop, he said the matter had not yet come to the government's notice but assured strict action if it proved true, and appealed to the public to report anyone selling medicines without a prescription to the police.
