Punjab Police announced on Monday (19 October 2026) on its official social media accounts that Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a drug trafficking and illegal arms smuggling network. The announcement was posted by the official Punjab Police account @PunjabPoliceInd and by DGP Punjab @dgp_punjabpolice.

According to police, three accused were apprehended in the operation. Officers recovered 10 pistols — three Glock 9mm and seven .30 bore — along with 1.022 kg of heroin. The names of those arrested were not released in the announcement.

Police said preliminary investigation indicates the network had links to foreign-based smugglers supplying weapons to criminal elements — this is the police's statement and the investigation is ongoing. An FIR has been registered at Cantonment police station in Amritsar, and further investigation is under way to trace the network's linkages.

The same figures — 10 pistols, 1.022 kg of heroin and three arrests — were also reported by Mid-Day, and the Punjabi newspaper Rozana Spokesman also reported the operation.
