Those arrested have been identified as Sukhraj Singh, a resident of Hargobind Avenue; Ajitpal Singh alias Mota, a resident of Khandwala; Anmolpreet Singh, a resident of Jawahar Nagar; and Robin Gill, a resident of village Chogawan — all hailing from Amritsar district. Police teams also impounded their Hero Splendor motorcycle and a black Honda Activa scooter allegedly used for transporting the heroin consignment.
Sharing operational details, the DGP said a CI Amritsar team received a reliable input that, on the directives of their foreign-based handler, the associates had retrieved a huge consignment of heroin and were expected to deliver it to another party. Police intercepted all four near Dera Baba Darshan Singh in village Ghanupur Kale while they were travelling on the motorcycle and scooter, and recovered the 10 kg heroin.
The DGP said preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were allegedly working in coordination with foreign-based smugglers and had been receiving heroin consignments to further distribute in the state. These are police allegations at this stage, and further investigation is underway to establish the complete forward and backward linkages, identify other persons involved and dismantle the wider network.
A case, FIR No. 67 dated 22-10-2026, has been registered under sections 21, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar.
