In a post on X, the DGP said preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were allegedly working on the directions of a Pakistan-based smuggler who had been orchestrating cross-border weapons movement into Punjab. This is a police claim based on preliminary investigation and has not been established in court.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to expose and dismantle the entire network, the DGP added.
