Police said around six men were present at the spot and opened fire after an altercation. A local report from the scene, citing an eyewitness, said the argument began over a motorcycle key before one of the men allegedly took out a pistol and started firing. Both injured men were taken to hospital. Sharandeep Singh is being treated at the Civil Hospital, while Akashdeep Singh was referred to another hospital for treatment, Amritsar News Updates reported. No death has been reported in the incident.

Officers recovered three empty .32-bore cartridge cases from the spot. Police said the shooting was not a gang war and pointed to an old rivalry between the two groups, saying the sides had clashed a few years ago in a fight involving sharp-edged weapons.
Police said two of the attackers have been identified and efforts are on to identify the remaining men. No arrest had been reported at the time of the latest police update, and the investigation is continuing.
