The project is spread across 1,670 acres in the Dobhi block of Gaya district.
The Centre approved the project on August 28, 2024, at a total cost of ₹1,339 crore, including land acquisition costs. It is expected to attract investments of approximately ₹16,500 crore — yaani about ₹1.65 lakh crore, or about ₹165 billion — and generate employment opportunities for around 1.10 lakh people, the release said.
BIMCGL was incorporated on January 6, 2025, and is a joint venture between the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), with both holding equal equity stakes. Awaaz Punjab reported on October 23 that Bihar had received 1,091 investment proposals worth ₹1,21,863 crore since 2025 and that the Gaya manufacturing city's portal launch was scheduled for October 24; Saturday's launch and the signed MoUs are the next step for the Gaya project.
