Patna's Ramkrishna Nagar area witnessed a brazen late-night shooting on Tuesday, October 20, when three motorcycle-borne men allegedly opened fire on property dealer Shubham Kumar Yadav on Jyotish Path, leaving him seriously injured. Yadav, 24, was rushed to a private hospital, where he remains under treatment, police said.
According to the Times of India, CCTV footage purportedly shows Yadav talking on his phone by the roadside when the three men approached on a motorcycle, fired at him and fled. The report said he was shot four times in the chest. An FSL (forensic science laboratory) team collected evidence from the crime scene.
Motive not yet established, say police
Sadar SDPO-II Ranjan Kumar said the motive behind the attack was yet to be established and that police were examining CCTV footage and investigating all possible angles, IANS reported. The SHO of Ramkrishna Nagar police station said preliminary investigation indicated Yadav had been in contact with people involved in property dealing, and that this lead was being examined. Police teams are questioning family members, local residents and possible eyewitnesses and conducting a technical investigation to identify the attackers and their motorcycle.
No arrests have been made so far in connection with the shooting, police said. The incident has raised concerns among residents because the assailants allegedly opened fire in a residential area and escaped before they could be intercepted.
The Ramkrishna Nagar shooting was one of a spate of violent crimes reported across Patna late on Tuesday night, the Times of India reported, including a fatal stabbing in Bakhtiyarpur and an attack on a pharmaceutical dealer in Agamkuan, each triggering separate police investigations.
