"I appeal to the prosperous people of Bihar, particularly those who are capable of contributing, to donate the benefit of 125 units of free electricity so that the money can be utilised to strengthen the education system," Choudhary said at the event, which was organised by Gyan Niketan School in Patna.
The Chief Minister said the state government spends around Rs 23,000 crore every year on power subsidies, at an expenditure of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per household, while it is spending approximately Rs 18,000 crore on education and wants to expand higher-education opportunities within Bihar.

A key promise of the 2025 election
Free electricity up to 125 units for domestic consumers was a major promise of the 2025 Bihar Assembly election campaign. Then Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the scheme in July 2025, saying the benefit would reach 1.67 crore households, with no charges levied for the first 125 units in the bill.
The youth parliament event was also attended by Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, MP Shambhavi Choudhary and the event's founder Sayan Kunal. Inaugurating the programme, Choudhary said the future of Indian democracy lies in the hands of the youth and stressed the importance of young people's participation in strengthening democracy.
