Police identified the accused as Amrit Kumar, alias Amit Kumar, of Jakhraj Sthan. Superintendent of Police Himanshu ordered a Special Investigation Team under the SDPO's leadership, police said.
Investigators traced the accused through the mobile number he had used to contact the girl's family, which had shown up on their phone, police said. Tracking its location, the team raided a house at Jamui Mor in Lakhisarai district and arrested Amrit Kumar late on Friday night, within 12 hours of the incident. He was brought to Sheikhpura, and police seized the Scorpio SUV allegedly used in the crime along with two mobile phones.
"The case will undergo a speedy trial. The police administration will submit a chargesheet against the accused in court within 15 days," the SDPO said, according to the reports. The accused has not been convicted, and the allegations will be tested in court.
