CapitaLand Data Centre Chennai 01, at Ambattur Industrial Estate in Chennai, was unveiled on Thursday, October 15, jointly by Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. It is the first data centre development in Tamil Nadu by CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT), a Singapore-listed trust, and CapitaLand's first data centre in Chennai.
The facility will deliver 53 MW of gross power capacity on completion by end-2026, with 34 MW of IT power capacity across 13 data halls and a dedicated 110 kV substation. Total planned investment is approximately Rs 1,940 crore, according to CLINT CEO Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam.
The facility is designed for high-density and liquid-cooled deployments with carrier-neutral connectivity, and is targeting LEED Gold certification.
The ceremony blended Singaporean and Tamil traditions: both leaders rolled a pineapple across the red carpet to usher in prosperity, nadaswaram and mridangam musicians performed, and the leaders took part in a tree-planting. Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong attended.
The two leaders also discussed new industrial investments, technology development and job creation in Tamil Nadu. CapitaLand says it has a 22-year presence in Tamil Nadu and has invested more than Rs 6,000 crore across seven operational assets in the state since 2004.
