Chennai Police have registered a case against DMK councillor Sudha Deenadayalan and meeting organiser Muralidharan over allegedly derogatory remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at a public meeting in Chennai, IANS reported on Tuesday (October 20). The case was registered at the B-2 Esplanade police station after TVK functionary Udhayakumar lodged a complaint over Sudha's speech at the October 7 meeting.
In the speech, clips of which have circulated widely on social media, Sudha allegedly referred to Vijay repeatedly as a "dog" while criticising his government and defending former chief minister M.K. Stalin, and alleged that the Vijay administration was continuing welfare schemes introduced by the previous DMK government.
TVK members have also criticised senior DMK leaders who, according to the party, were present on the dais — Chennai Mayor Priya, MP Kanimozhi and former minister P.K. Sekarbabu — alleging they did not intervene; that allegation has not been independently established.
Police have not yet disclosed the legal provisions invoked, and no response from Sudha or Muralidharan was available in the reports. The remarks remain allegations under investigation; registration of a case does not establish guilt.
