A woman who was stabbed while trying to intervene in a late-night clash involving her son in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh has died of her injuries, Delhi Police said, according to ANI. The deceased, Seema Rishi, was injured on the night of October 15 in the Old Roshanpura area and succumbed on October 17 at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Police said a PCR call reporting a knife attack near Old Roshanpura was received at the Najafgarh police station at about 11:49 pm on October 15.

According to the police account, at about 11:15 pm that night Satish Lamba was standing with friends at a chowk near Old Roshanpura when Seema Rishi's son Dhruv arrived with his friends Afjal and Dev Bakshi on a motorcycle; an argument escalated into a scuffle in which Dhruv allegedly stabbed Lamba in the left thigh. Lamba's medical report recorded a deep lacerated wound of about 3x2 cm; he was treated at RTRM Hospital in Jaffarpur and referred onward to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital.

The family tells a different story: Dhruv has alleged that three men on a motorcycle accosted him as he returned home and later targeted his parents after he left the spot. His father, Kamal Rishi, alleged the couple had gone only to calm the situation when they were attacked. On Kamal Rishi's complaint, an FIR was registered and Satish Lamba was arrested on October 16; on Lamba's statement and medical report, police have also registered a case against Dhruv Rishi and his two friends. Police said the investigation in both cases is underway and the sequence of events is being established. (Sources: ANI via Asianet News; Mirror Now)
