According to the police, courts had already initiated proceedings under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) against both accused, who were allegedly evading arrest despite being aware of the proceedings. After court proceedings and legal formalities, both were formally arrested under Section 35(1)(c) of the BNSS.
A team of the Western Range-II unit of the Crime Branch was formed on the directions of Deputy Commissioner of Police Harsh Indora after specific intelligence was received by Head Constable Pramod Kumar. The team, led by Inspector Satish Malik under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Raj Pal Dabas, used technical surveillance by Sub-Inspector Anuj Chhikara and Head Constable Ravinder Singh to trace the duo, and located them at residential premises in Bindapur and Mahavir Enclave on October 27, police said.

Neelam Rana is the wife of Rajesh Rana, also known as Bunty, whom police describe as the head of the alleged syndicate. He has already been charge-sheeted in the MCOCA case and is in judicial custody, police said. Police said Neelam Rana has been involved in 13 criminal cases since 1995, including cases under the Excise Act and the NDPS Act, and that non-bailable warrants were pending against her in two NDPS cases at the time of her arrest. All of these are police allegations and remain to be tested in court.
With the alleged syndicate head already in judicial custody and his wife and son now arrested, police are expected to pursue further charge-sheets and possible asset recovery proceedings in the coming weeks.
