Sandeep, who lived in Raj Vihar in Nihal Vihar, had gone to a Sunday market near Jwalapuri Nala when the dispute began. His father, Bijender Singh, alleged that the argument started after Sandeep asked the chole-bhature vendor for some extra chole, that the vendor abused him, and that the quarrel escalated into a stabbing. These details are the family's allegations, which police are investigating.
After the attack, Sandeep was first taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital on October 25 and was later shifted to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Punjabi Bagh, where he died on Tuesday. His medico-legal report recorded three stab wounds on the left side of his abdomen, along with lacerated wounds on his left forearm and wrist.

Police said the accused vendor, identified as Chintu Gupta, was arrested and sent to judicial custody. An FIR was initially registered for attempted murder and was amended to a murder charge after Sandeep's death. Sandeep's father has alleged that three to four people were involved in the attack, and police say they are investigating whether anyone else took part.
Sandeep is survived by his wife and two sons, aged four and ten. The investigation is continuing.
