Food safety teams inspected 13 premises in Nihal Vihar, including unlicensed rasgulla manufacturing units, sweet-making facilities and shops. Of the 402 kg destroyed there, 265 kg was rasgullas, 45 kg chhena, 80 kg milk cake and 12 kg grated coconut. A total of 14 samples — including chhena, milk cake, rasgullas, laddoos, rasbhari and paneer — were collected for laboratory testing. Teams were deployed simultaneously across different lanes on a holiday so manufacturers received no advance warning.

The Hindu also reported on Sunday that the department destroyed 402 kg of food items, including rasgullas, chhena and milk cake, after inspecting 13 premises in Nihal Vihar, and 520 kg of spoiled khoya and chhena at Mori Gate Khoya Mandi, with samples collected from both locations. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the department had been directed to continue surprise inspections, regular monitoring and sample testing during the festive season, and that action would be taken under the law against those violating food safety norms and putting public health at risk.
