Alternative asset manager Brookfield said on Sunday it had opened an office in Doha anchored by its global credit platform, Reuters reported. The company is listed in New York as BAM, Reuters noted in its report.

The Doha office deepens Brookfield's presence in Qatar and expands its footprint across the Gulf region, Reuters reported. Bloomberg, in its own Sunday report, likewise described the move as Brookfield opening a Doha office to deepen its Middle East reach.

Neither report disclosed how many staff the Doha office will have or any investment amount tied to the opening, so Awaaz Punjab is not putting a figure on the expansion itself. By background, Brookfield describes itself as a global investment firm with more than $1 trillion in assets under management — yaani $1,000 billion in assets under management.

The opening comes even as Gulf markets were rattled on Sunday by intensifying Yemen fighting, a reminder that global asset managers are still expanding in the Gulf capital Doha while regional risk remains high.
