Colombia's government said on Tuesday it would withdraw as a member state and co-chair of The Hague Group of countries, citing the body's actions over Israel, Reuters reported.

Government spokesperson Miller Soto announced the move in a video shared on X. "Colombia officially requested its withdrawal from the Hague Group — a group created to isolate and attack Israel — and we reject that approach," Soto said, according to Reuters.
The Hague Group says it seeks to uphold international law and legal processes, including at the International Criminal Court, in relation to Israel's actions. Colombia's statement framed its exit as a rejection of that approach, rather than a routine membership change.
Colombia had held a co-chair role in the group, so its withdrawal removes one of the bloc's most prominent Latin American voices at a time when Israel's war in Gaza and the wider Middle East conflict continue to divide governments over international-law responses.
The announcement was reported by Reuters correspondents Aida Pelaez-Fernandez and Nelson Bocanegra. No response from The Hague Group to Colombia's stated reasons was included in the initial report.
