European security agencies have been placed on high alert after Spanish authorities uncovered jihadist calls urging extremists to carry out suicide bombings and vehicle attacks against police and demonstrators during widespread economic protests across Europe, according to a report by Euronews citing El Pais, carried by ANI. No attack was established in that reporting — the story concerns propaganda calls and official monitoring.

El Pais cited an internal document from Spain's Cybersecurity Coordination Office and said the Interior Ministry had flagged messages published on a platform allegedly tied to the self-proclaimed Islamic State. The posts urged followers to exploit crowded demonstrations and clashes, the report said, describing large protests — including turnout it put at more than 800,000 in France last weekend — as an opportunity to attack.
Portugal's Internal Security System (SSI) confirmed to the Lusa news agency that it is 'closely monitoring' the situation, in constant coordination with the relevant authorities, according to the same Euronews reporting carried by multiple outlets.

Protests driven by the cost of living and housing shortages have continued in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy in recent weeks, Euronews reported. Separately, India's Ministry of External Affairs advised Indian nationals in France, Italy and Belgium to remain vigilant and stay away from protest-affected areas, ANI reported.
