GAZA — Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip killed six Palestinians and wounded 38 others over the past 24 hours, Gaza's Health Ministry said on Thursday, as attacks continued despite the ceasefire that took effect in October 2025.

The deadliest single strike hit an Economy Ministry post in the al-Mawasi area west of Rafah, in southern Gaza. The Gaza government media office said at least four civilian employees were killed and 30 others wounded, six of them critically. Al Jazeera reported the four men were buried on Thursday morning at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, and that they were civilian employees who monitor aid trucks entering Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The government media office called the strike on the post an attack on civilian public-sector employees and part of a campaign to undermine government institutions in the territory. Al-Mawasi is a coastal strip where tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians live in tents; Israel had previously designated it a humanitarian 'safe zone'.

Separately, two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a vehicle near the entrance to the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, a medical source at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital told reporters. Al Jazeera described the vehicle as a civilian car; some reports citing Israeli officials described those killed as Hamas members. The reports carried no Israeli military comment on the al-Mawasi strike.

Israeli artillery also struck a house east of Gaza City, wounding 11 people including women and children, emergency services told Al Jazeera, while local sources reported heavy fire and shelling northeast of Khan Younis, east of Deir al-Balah and east of Jabalia.

Health ministry renews call to open Rafah

As the strikes continued, Gaza's Health Ministry renewed its call for the Rafah crossing with Egypt to be opened so the sick and wounded can leave for treatment. The ministry said 21,468 patients and wounded people need care outside Gaza, including 6,430 priority cases, and that dozens had died while waiting for permission to travel. Since February, it said, 3,056 patients and wounded people have been evacuated abroad — 2,614 through Rafah and 442 through Kerem Shalom.

The Gaza government media office said Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began had killed 1,574 Palestinians and wounded 5,687 — figures issued by Gaza's authorities that are not independently verified. Gaza's health authorities say more than 74,500 people have been killed in the territory since the war began in October 2023.
