GAZA — A Palestinian teacher was killed early on Saturday when an Israeli drone struck an area north of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to Palestinian medical sources reported by the Quds News Network and Press TV. The Palestinian Ministry of Education identified him as Diaa Abu al-Rous, a teacher at the Malaysian School in Gaza who was on his way to work.

The Ministry of Education condemned the killing, describing it as an attack on the education community and warning of the continued dangers facing teachers and other education staff in Gaza, the reports said.
A second Palestinian, Arafat al-Arair, died on Saturday from injuries sustained several days earlier in an Israeli strike on a vehicle in Gaza City's Tel al-Hawa neighbourhood, Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed, according to Press TV. Italy's LaPresse news agency, citing Al Jazeera's reporting of medical sources, also reported the two deaths on Saturday — one in the Nuseirat area and one from earlier wounds in Gaza City.

Press TV also reported Israeli shelling in several areas on Saturday, including Beit Lahia, Gaza City, Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah, and said Israeli warships fired towards the Gaza City coastline. Those reports could not be independently verified, and the Israeli military had not commented on Saturday's specific incidents in the reports available at the time of publication.
What is solid
- Two Palestinians died in Gaza on Saturday — a teacher in a drone strike near Nuseirat and a man from earlier wounds in Gaza City — according to Palestinian medical sources reported by several outlets.
- The Palestinian Ministry of Education named the teacher as Diaa Abu al-Rous of the Malaysian School and condemned the killing.
What is only claimed
- Casualty totals for the war and for the period since the ceasefire are reported by Gaza's health authorities and are not independently verified; Israel disputes the ministry's figures and its characterisation of the fighting.
The toll since the ceasefire
Gaza's Health Ministry reported that 1,574 Palestinians had been killed and 5,687 wounded since the US-brokered ceasefire took effect in October 2025, in figures released by October 29 and reported by Press TV and R24 News. The ministry puts the overall Palestinian death toll since October 7, 2023 at at least 74,570. Awaaz Punjab attributes these figures to the ministry, as they cannot be independently verified.
