An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan on Sunday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said, Reuters reported.

The EMSC earlier estimated the earthquake at magnitude 5.8, before downgrading it to 5.2. The quake was at a depth of 110 km (68.35 miles), the centre added, according to the Reuters report.

The Reuters report did not mention any casualties or damage from the quake. The Hindu Kush region lies in Afghanistan, and the EMSC reading — a deep quake at 110 km — is the confirmed figure carried in this report; an earlier higher estimate should not be used.
