An explosive-laden drone struck a base belonging to the Iranian Kurdish opposition group Komala in Iraq's Kurdistan Region, northeast of Erbil, late on Saturday, causing material damage but no casualties, the group said, blaming Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Kurdistan24 reported via Rudaw.

"As part of the continuing terrorist attacks by the Islamic Republic's Revolutionary Guards, at 10 pm tonight, one of Komala's headquarters in the Alana Valley in the Balisan area was targeted by an explosive-laden Shahed drone," the party said in a statement reported by The New Region and Rudaw. "Apart from material damage, the drone attack caused no casualties, and Komala's Peshmerga in the area are safe," it added. The attribution to the IRGC is the group's claim; Iran had not confirmed the strike in the reports.

The Kurdistan Region has repeatedly come under Iranian attacks following renewed hostilities between Tehran and Washington, with strikes focusing on US interests and bases of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, Rudaw reported. Last Saturday, another Komala party base in Erbil was also targeted in a drone attack, according to the same reporting.

Tehran in May declared the Kurdistan Region a site of "hostile bases" under its security doctrine, Rudaw reported. A missile strike targeting a Komala base in Sulaimani's Zirgwezala area in July killed at least 10 people, which the report described as the deadliest attack on the Kurdistan Region since the start of the US-Israel war with Iran. The Kurdistan Region has long insisted on its neutrality in the broader regional conflict and has repeatedly condemned Iranian strikes.
