Six people were injured in Wednesday evening's Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, in an updated toll reported by Reuters. Klitschko said on Telegram that there were strikes in two districts on the east side of the Dnipro River, which bisects the Ukrainian capital, and that six people were injured, including four being treated in hospital. The attack damaged homes, a petrol station and transport equipment, officials said.

The city remained under a drone warning more than two hours after the initial alert was declared, Reuters reported. Kyiv's military administration had earlier said missiles hit private homes and a petrol station on the eastern side of the Dnipro, and Reuters witnesses reported explosions in the city — the first reports, published by Awaaz Punjab earlier on Wednesday evening, gave no casualty toll. This updated Reuters toll is the first confirmed injury count from city officials for the attack.

The strikes came on a day of intensive diplomacy over the war: US special envoy Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg on Wednesday, a day after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Oslo, and Zelenskyy said he would accept freezing the front line as a first step toward a ceasefire. No deaths from the Kyiv attack had been reported by officials in the updated Reuters report.
