BEIRUT — The Israeli military intensified its strikes on regions across southern Lebanon on Saturday evening, through a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting the vicinity of Al-Mansouri town and the Wadi Al-Salouqi and Wadi Al-Hujair valleys, Jordan's Petra news agency reported, citing a Lebanese security source. The evening escalation came hours after an earlier, separate wave the same day — fresh airstrikes, an explosion and machine-gun fire across the Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil and Marjayoun districts early on Saturday, reported by Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA).

The security source said Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on the Al-Maqsaba neighbourhood below Al-Mansouri, on the town itself, and on the main road connecting Al-Mansouri to Al-Amriyeh, near a Lebanese Army checkpoint. Separately, an Al-Manar correspondent reported an Israeli air raid on Al-Mansouri town on Saturday, corroborating that the town was struck during the day. Israeli artillery, the source said, shelled Wadi Al-Salouqi, in the sector between Shaqra and Majdal, alongside similar artillery bombardment targeting Wadi Al-Hujair.
Demolitions and new military roads
The source added that the Israeli military executed large-scale demolitions in the city of Al-Khiam and the towns of Kounine, Baraachit and Kfar Tebnit, and that Israeli forces constructed new access roads through mountainous terrain and valleys in the western and central sectors, to link military outposts established following their occupation of southern Lebanon. No casualties from the Saturday-evening strikes were reported in the Petra report or in the other reports available when this story was published.

Israel says its operations in the south target the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, which began attacking Israel on March 2 in response to the US-Israeli war on Iran; Hezbollah has continued attacks on Israeli forces and vehicles inside Lebanon. The strikes persist despite a US-brokered framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, and despite ceasefire arrangements that have repeatedly failed to stop the fire. According to Lebanon's Health Ministry figures reported on Saturday, Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed at least 4,386 people and wounded 12,407, and more than a million people have been displaced — figures reported by the ministry and carried by regional outlets, which Awaaz Punjab has not independently verified.
