Israeli forces carried out fresh airstrikes, an explosion and machine-gun fire across southern Lebanon early on Saturday, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported, in the latest attacks despite a US-brokered framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel in June.

In Nabatieh district, Israeli warplanes struck an area between the towns of Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Kfar Tebnit, the agency said. Al Jazeera also reported an Israeli air attack on Kfar Tebnit in Nabatieh district on Saturday, citing its journalists on the ground.
Another Israeli airstrike targeted the outskirts of Baraachit in Bint Jbeil district, and Israeli warplanes separately struck an area between the towns of Adshit al-Qusayr and Taybeh, according to the NNA report carried by Anadolu.
In Marjayoun district, Israeli forces carried out an explosion in the town of Tallousa while a drone flew at low altitude over nearby towns, and Israeli forces opened machine-gun fire from the direction of Khiam toward agricultural land in Ibl al-Saqi, the agency said.
In Tyre district, Israeli drones flew at low altitude over the city of Tyre and surrounding towns, reaching both banks of the Litani River in the Qasmiyeh area, and an Anadolu correspondent reported that Israeli drones had continued flying over Beirut's southern suburbs since the morning. No casualty figures for Saturday's attacks were reported in the NNA account.
The attacks follow US-sponsored military and technical talks between Lebanon and Israel in Tampa, Florida, on October 20-21, which ended without an announced breakthrough or a joint statement. Reports indicated the sides agreed to continue negotiations, while disagreements remained over Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
The June framework agreement provides for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed groups. Despite the agreement, Israel has continued military operations in Lebanon. Since March 2, the attacks have killed at least 4,386 people, wounded 12,407 others and displaced more than 1 million people, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry figures cited in the reporting.
What is solid
- Lebanon's National News Agency reported early-Saturday Israeli airstrikes between Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Kfar Tebnit, on the outskirts of Baraachit, and between Adshit al-Qusayr and Taybeh, an explosion in Tallousa, and machine-gun fire toward farmland in Ibl al-Saqi
- Al Jazeera independently reported an Israeli air attack on Kfar Tebnit on Saturday
- No casualty figures for Saturday's attacks were given in the NNA account
What is only claimed
- Why the strikes are happening: Lebanon and the June framework treat continued Israeli operations as violations of the agreement; Israel's stated position in the wider conflict is that its operations target Hezbollah — no Israeli statement on Saturday's specific attacks was reported at the time of writing
