Why this matters

The Gero attack is the second deadly community attack reported in Nigeria on Tuesday, after the emergency agency raised the toll from Friday's Binnari attack in Taraba state to at least 62. The Gero toll remains contested - six in the police statement, seven from community sources - and no group has claimed responsibility.
