The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said it intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by Yemen's Houthis towards Saudi Arabia's Eastern Region early on Tuesday, as the fighting between the kingdom and the Iran-aligned group intensified.

Saudi Civil Defense had issued early-warning alerts for a potential hostile threat in the Eastern Region and in Kharj governorate, before later saying the danger had passed in both areas, the report said. The coalition statement, as reported, gave no word of casualties or damage on the ground.
Sweden Herald also reported the coalition's announcement that three ballistic missiles fired at eastern Saudi Arabia had been shot down, and noted that the Houthi movement, which controls much of Yemen and is backed by Iran, has stepped up its attacks on Saudi Arabia in recent weeks.

A day after strikes in Sanaa and pipeline claims
The interception came a day after the Saudi-led coalition said it had carried out a military operation against Houthi targets in Yemen, destroying five tunnels used to store ballistic missiles, four ballistic missile launchers and a missile storage facility, and after the Houthis said on Monday they had attacked pumping stations on Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline and Riyadh airport — claims for which there was no Saudi confirmation.
The Eastern Region is Saudi Arabia's oil heartland, home to the Dhahran-Dammam area and major energy facilities, and to a large expatriate workforce that includes many Indian and Punjabi workers. There were no reports in the coalition statement or the reports cited here of any casualties, and no Houthi claim for this specific launch had been reported by the time of publication.
Saudi Arabia has intensified its strikes on the Houthis since the group captured strategic areas along Yemen's Red Sea coast last month, advancing towards the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key global shipping route. The latest fighting has effectively ended a UN-brokered truce that had largely held since 2022.
