Israeli forces killed a man with a disability during a raid early on Thursday in the village of Jamla, in the western countryside of Syria's southern Daraa governorate, Syria's state news agency SANA reported. Al Jazeera carried the report, and AFP also reported the killing on Thursday, citing Syrian state media.

According to SANA, Israeli troops entered the village in several military vehicles, deployed in its eastern district, positioned snipers on the rooftops of homes and searched houses during the operation, opening fire as they moved through neighbourhoods. The agency said the man's body was taken to Daraa National Hospital.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the report. Awaaz Punjab is presenting the details above as SANA's account, reported by Al Jazeera and AFP — they have not been independently verified.

A second raid the same morning

SANA also reported a second raid on Thursday in the village of Turnejeh in the Quneitra countryside, where Israeli forces searched homes and detained one person, according to the agency. Earlier in the week, Israeli forces destroyed trees in a large field near the village of Saida, SANA reported.

Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday condemned what it called the intensification of Israeli incursions in Quneitra and Daraa. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has condemned Israel's actions, saying they undermine peace and security, Al Jazeera reported.

Since longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad was removed in December 2024, the Israeli army has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria and routinely moved forces into Syrian territory, Al Jazeera reported. Israeli officials have repeatedly said they plan to keep troops in what they call a security zone in southern Syria. Talks between the two countries on a security agreement have been largely stalled since the outbreak of the US-Israel war on Iran in February, according to the same reporting.
