The UK Conservative Party has suspended Jack Ross, a former election candidate and party member, after an Al Jazeera undercover investigation showed him discussing the cost of hiring contract killers, The Guardian reported.
Al Jazeera's documentary, Contract Killers and the Far Right, filmed Ross apparently offering to broker the services of a far-right activist with alleged paramilitary links. In the footage, Ross was heard listing violent options that could allegedly be bought — allegations that have not been tested in court.
A Conservative Party spokesperson told The Guardian: "Mr Ross's membership of the Conservative party has been suspended with immediate effect pending an investigation. We cannot comment further while the investigation is ongoing."
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said the party does not condone Ross's conduct, Al Jazeera reported on Thursday. Ross is chief executive of Turning Point UK and stood as a Conservative candidate in 2023, according to The Guardian's report.
The investigation began in 2021 when an undercover reporter joined Turning Point UK, Al Jazeera said. The party's suspension and Badenoch's statement are the party's response; Ross's own response was not included in the reports reviewed.
What is solid

- An Al Jazeera documentary showed Ross discussing contract killers in undercover footage.
What is only claimed
- What Ross intended by the recorded remarks, and whether any violent act was actually arranged — the reports do not establish this.
