Ukrainian forces struck an ammunition depot in Russian-occupied Luhansk Oblast overnight on October 27, using strike drones in an attack that took several hours near the city of Khrustalnyi and set off explosions at the site, The Kyiv Independent reported, citing Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova Plus.

Khrustalnyi has been occupied by Russian forces and their proxies since 2014 and lies about 65 kilometres (40 miles) southwest of Luhansk, the regional capital. The strike was reported overnight by monitoring channels; neither the reports nor Ukrainian officials had published a confirmed assessment of what was destroyed, and no casualty figures were given.

The same Kyiv Independent report was carried by a second outlet, which also described a several-hours-long strike-drone attack near Khrustalnyi based on Exilenova Plus monitoring posts. Because the account rests on monitoring channels rather than an official Ukrainian General Staff statement, the depot strike is reported here as a monitored, attributed claim, not as an independently verified battlefield result.

Part of a wider deep-strike campaign

The Khrustalnyi strike is part of a broader Ukrainian campaign against military and industrial targets deep inside Russian-occupied territory and inside Russia itself, according to the same reporting. On October 24, Ukraine hit several targets including a petrochemical plant and a warehouse in Siberia, around 2,500 kilometres from the border, monitoring channels reported. A fire broke out at the Omsky Kauchuk petrochemical plant in Omsk, and a warehouse belonging to Russian online retailer Ozon was also hit, according to Exilenova Plus.

On October 26, a chemical plant producing dual-use goods in the southwestern Russian city of Voronezh was likely hit in a Ukrainian drone attack, independent Russian outlet Astra reported. A drone also reportedly struck a business centre in Voronezh amid explosions and fires across the city, the Kyiv Independent report said.

There was no immediate Russian official comment on the Khrustalnyi depot strike in the reports reviewed. Ukraine has repeatedly said its long-range drone strikes target military logistics — ammunition, fuel and drone infrastructure — that support Russia's war effort, while Moscow routinely accuses Kyiv of attacking civilian sites; each side's claims in this campaign are attributed in Awaaz Punjab coverage and are not presented as settled fact.
