Russia's defence ministry said on Telegram that it had hit a power station in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, a warehouse in the surrounding region and another power station in the Khmelnitskiy region, Reuters reported. The ministry also said it had targeted port infrastructure in Chornomorsk and a cargo vessel en route to Odesa that it said was used for military purposes. Awaaz Punjab has not independently verified the ministry's target claims, and is reporting them as Russia's own account of its strikes.

What is only claimed

Power infrastructure at the centre of the argument
The overnight strikes land in the middle of a public argument over energy targets. The United States has pressed Ukraine to suspend its strikes on Russian oil refineries, which Washington argues have added to high energy prices - a sensitive issue for the Trump administration amid its war on Iran and US midterm elections next month, Reuters reported. In an interview aired on Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that for Kyiv to halt those strikes, Moscow must stop hitting Ukraine's power infrastructure - or the United States should allow the use of Starshield over Russia to detect ballistic-missile launch sites, or supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles.
