CCTV footage reportedly captured the accused pouring the liquid over the car, setting it on fire with a matchstick and filming or photographing the blaze before leaving the scene. The Swift was gutted in the fire, with the damage estimated at Rs 3.5 lakh.

Morbi Deputy Superintendent of Police J. M. Aal said, according to reporting, that the accused allegedly claimed he was irritated by the car's alarm system, which would repeatedly sound whenever he approached the Swift. The complaint was lodged at Morbi City A Division police station after the CCTV footage was reviewed, police arrested the accused and a case was registered. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway, and the allegations remain unproven.

A separate car fire was also reported in Morbi a day earlier, in the Anupam Society area on Ravapar Road, where two unidentified individuals were allegedly seen setting a parked Maruti Brezza on fire on CCTV. No police complaint had been registered in that separate incident at the time of initial reporting, and police have not linked the two incidents in the available reporting.
