Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Karanraj Vaghela said the Crime Branch received specific information that Saiyed was transporting a consignment of MD in a car. She and Shaikh were travelling from Ahmedabad towards Mumbai when police intercepted them at the Ena village toll plaza on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Palsana.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly told investigators that the consignment had been handed to them by a woman near Vadodara railway station and was to be distributed among drug peddlers in Mumbai, police said. Investigators also recovered mobile phones and packaging material from the vehicle, according to a second report of the seizure.

Police said Saiyed had allegedly been involved in drug trafficking for several years and had allegedly concealed MD in children's diapers to transport it in the present case. Police said she had earlier been arrested by the Indore Crime Branch in 2021 with around 100 grams of mephedrone and had spent four years in jail. These are police allegations and the case is under investigation.

According to police, Saiyed said she had started consuming MD in 2015 and later became involved in its trafficking, and investigators found that she had allegedly been supplying drugs in different areas for around two years. Police are investigating the source of the consignment, its intended recipients and whether others were involved.
