According to his father Vinod, three men got out of the blue car after Rudra fell and tried to force him into the vehicle. When he resisted and tried to run, they allegedly chased him, caught him again and beat him with sticks and an iron rod. CCTV footage reported by both outlets shows two men repeatedly striking him while a third appears to hold him; the family says nearly 50 blows were inflicted within about a minute. These details are the family's allegations and are being investigated by police.

The family said Rudra suffered about six fractures, with serious injuries to both hands and fractures around his heel and the upper part of his leg. He was first taken to a hospital in Bhiwani and later shifted to a hospital in Gurugram for better treatment on medical advice.

Industrial Area police station SHO Devender Singh said police received information about the incident, recorded Rudra's statement and registered an FIR under relevant provisions against Himanshu, a resident of Jind, Ankit, a resident of Meham in Rohtak district, and other accused. Police teams are working to trace and arrest the accused and are examining the CCTV footage to identify the other alleged assailants.

The family has alleged that the attackers pointed a pistol at the student, made a video call after the assault saying 'Rudra ka kaam kar diya hai', and fled in the car. Vinod believes an altercation about one-and-a-half months ago between his elder son Dhruv and associates of the accused may have led to the attack, and he has expressed dissatisfaction with the initial police response. Police have not confirmed the alleged motive or the firearm claim; the investigation is underway.
