Haryana is planning to bring its entire public healthcare network under one unified digital platform, using Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping to integrate facility data from the Health, AYUSH and Medical Education and Research (MER) departments, officials said.

The proposed platform will show the geographical location, basic institutional details and photographs of individual healthcare facilities, enabling citizens to identify government medical centres — hospitals, primary health centres (PHCs), sub-health centres and AYUSH dispensaries — in their area from a single interface, replacing fragmented departmental records.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr Sumita Misra reviewed the progress of the initiative at a meeting where GIS mapping data of healthcare facilities across Haryana was presented, according to the reports.

HARSAC to support the database

The Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC), the state's nodal agency for remote sensing and geospatial applications, will provide technical support and handholding for managing the GIS database, and will facilitate sharing of the information with other departments of the Haryana government, HARSAC representatives assured the Health Department at the meeting.

Officials clarified that the immediate phase covers physical infrastructure mapping only; it does not currently include individual electronic health records, teleconsultations or real-time appointment booking. The platform is intended to complement the national Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission framework and to give health administrators a single dashboard for directing infrastructure investment.
