The Karnal district administration has launched the formal verification to determine whether the registered produce exists, or whether farmer registration details under the Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) system have been misused to facilitate the illegal entry of paddy from neighbouring states, particularly Uttar Pradesh, Mirror Now reported. The suspected misuse is an allegation under investigation, and no finding has been announced.

Karnal police have already filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) regarding the illicit arrival of paddy in the Gharaunda and Indri grain markets, where such imports are prohibited, the reports said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Raiya confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway, covering e-procurement audit trails, gate pass records, vehicle movement logs and CCTV footage from the affected markets. Officials said further legal action will be determined by the findings of the audit, which is also being extended to other mandis across the district.
The verification order follows stepped-up monitoring of paddy procurement in Karnal, one of Haryana's major grain districts, more than a month into the procurement season.
