Hamilton, November 1: Team India made history on Sunday, becoming the first team ever in T20 International cricket to reach 400 sixes in a calendar year, ANI reported. The landmark came during the fifth and final T20I against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton, where India hit 11 sixes in their innings to touch the 400 mark in their 40th T20I of 2026.

The historic 400th six was struck by Naman Dhir in the 19th over, top-edging a flick off Blair Tickner over fine leg, Sports Now reported. The feat comfortably eclipses the previous calendar-year record of 326 sixes set by Austria in 2025; among full-member nations, India's own previous best was 289 sixes in 2022. Abhishek Sharma (86 sixes), Ishan Kishan (60) and Sanju Samson (50) have been India's six-hitting leaders this year, ANI reported.

India's power-hitting built their total of 191 for 8 in the match: Ishan Kishan cleared the ropes five times in his 61 and captain Shreyas Iyer added four sixes in his 50, Dainik Jagran reported. New Zealand chased the target down in 18 overs to win by seven wickets, but India had already won the first three matches of the series and took the trophy 3-2, as Awaaz Punjab reported earlier on Sunday.
