Air India and Air India Express have suspended all flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia until November 14, 2026 (inclusive), citing the prevailing security situation in the region, the airlines said in an advisory on Friday, news agency ANI reported.
This is a new development on the earlier suspension: six days ago the airlines had kept Riyadh and Dammam suspended only until November 7 and Jeddah until October 31. The new advisory extends all three cities to a single date — November 14 — and covers both Air India and its low-cost arm Air India Express.
What affected passengers can do
Guests holding confirmed bookings issued on or before October 30, 2026 for travel up to November 14 can take a one-time complimentary rebooking, subject to availability, for travel up to November 29, 2026, or opt for a full refund on cancellation, the airline said. Air India guests may rebook to or from any operational Air India station in Saudi Arabia, while Air India Express guests may rebook to or from any operational Air India Express station in Saudi Arabia or Bahrain.
The Consulate General of India in Jeddah has issued a detailed advisory to support Indian nationals, particularly Umrah pilgrims affected by the cancellations, ANI reported.
Why the flights are stopped
The update follows claims by Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree on October 23 that the group had targeted King Khalid Airport in Riyadh and energy and aviation facilities across Saudi Arabia. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh. Those are the claims reported by ANI; the airlines themselves have cited only the prevailing situation in the region.
Passengers booked on the affected routes should check their booking status with the airline before travelling to the airport, as the suspension dates have already been extended more than once this month.
