Indian para-athlete Ayush Verma clinched the gold medal in the men's shot put F53 event at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported. Ayush recorded a best effort of 8.16 metres with his fifth attempt in the seated throwing event to take India's gold-medal count to 10 and its overall tally to 38 at that stage, with India sixth in the standings. Iran's Alireza Hemami took silver with 8.09m and Kazakhstan's Makhambet Serikkaliev bronze with 6.81m, according to coverage of the final. It was Ayush's second medal of the Games, after his bronze in the men's javelin F53/54 on Tuesday.

Rakeshbhai Bhatt added a bronze in the men's 100m T37 with a personal best of 11.50 seconds.
