Acting on intelligence inputs, troops of the Army's 52 Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir Police picked up the two men from the Darpura Nursery area near Delina Ghat in the district, according to officials cited by IANS and by the GNS news agency in reports carried by The Kashmir Horizon and Kashmir Outlook.
During the search, one Turkish-made pistol, one magazine with 10 rounds and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from their possession, officials said.
Both men belong to the Chinkipura area of Sopore sub-division and, according to officials, were prima facie working as overground workers (OGWs) — civilian associates who, security agencies say, move weapons, explosives and logistics for militant groups without directly taking part in attacks.
Officials said the two are likely involved in the movement of weapons and explosives for terrorists, and that further investigation has been taken up. More details are awaited as the probe progresses.
