The overarching theme is “Strengthening Parliaments for People-Centric Development”, according to the Lok Sabha Secretariat release. Four sessions, one joint statement
Four high-level sessions are planned — Resilience, on parliaments strengthening institutions; Innovation, on human-centred AI and digital technology; Cooperation, on a more representative global governance architecture; and Sustainability, on an inclusive future — according to the Secretariat's programme note. A joint statement is to be finalised at a meeting of secretaries on October 25, before the forum concludes on October 27.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the forum and meet the leaders of visiting delegations, Birla said, according to The Impressive Times. The previous, 11th edition of the forum was held in Brasília in 2025, and India holds the BRICS chairship in 2026.
The forum adds a legislative layer to India's 2026 BRICS chairship, weeks after the BRICS summit in New Delhi. Its joint statement, due on October 27, will show where the expanded grouping's parliaments agree — including on AI oversight and global governance reform.
