The cumulative picture for the financial year so far is also higher. Production between April and October rose from 105.33 MT to 117.23 MT, growth of 11.30 per cent, while dispatches rose from 111.95 MT to 124.86 MT, up 11.53 per cent over the same period a year earlier, the ministry said.
Lohari mine cleared, tally reaches 87
The Lohari coal mine in Jharkhand obtained its Mine Opening Permission in October 2026 after awaiting operationalisation for several years. The ministry credited its Ease of Doing Business reforms, and said the addition takes the number of operational captive and commercial coal mines in the country to 87.
Reviewing the performance, the ministry said the results underscore improved operational efficiency, enhanced mining productivity and more effective use of mining capacities across the captive and commercial coal mining sector, according to ANI.
The ministry said rising production from these mines is expected to reduce dependence on imported coal, strengthen supply-chain resilience and conserve foreign exchange. These are captive and commercial block figures released by the Coal Ministry; they are separate from Coal India Limited's own monthly production and supply numbers.
