Grasim Industries, the parent of Aditya Birla Renewables, told the stock exchanges that the CCI granted the approval by a letter dated October 30, 2026, under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002. Grasim said its subsidiary's board had approved the share purchase agreement on July 13, 2026.

What Solenergi holds
The CCI release said the acquirer, including its subsidiaries, generates power through renewable resources such as solar and wind and also carries out captive engineering, procurement and construction work. It described the target, Solenergi Power, as primarily a holding company registered in Mauritius, with no other business except that of a holding company. Reports on the clearance said Solenergi holds strategic interests in solar and wind power entities across India, including Shell's Sprng Energy renewable business.

The clearance is a regulatory milestone, not the completion of the sale: the reports said the proposed transactions remain subject to applicable closing conditions and other requirements before completion. The CCI cleared several combinations in the same round of releases on Saturday, including deals that Awaaz Punjab has reported separately.
