This is the next development after the earlier one reported on this site: Chandrakar was extradited from Oman to India on Sunday, November 1, by a specially deputed CBI team. With transit remand now granted, he will be taken to Chhattisgarh and produced before the special CBI court in Raipur, after a medical examination, the CBI said, according to ANI.

Chandrakar, a native of Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, is one of the main accused in the Mahadev Online Book illegal betting case. Investigating agencies allege that Chandrakar and his associate Ravi Uppal built and ran a vast online betting syndicate from outside India, using a franchise network of panels and branches across the country, with proceeds routed through mule bank accounts and hawala channels. These allegations are yet to be tested in court.

After being traced to Oman, Chandrakar was detained by the Royal Oman Police on the basis of an Interpol Red Corner Notice, and Indian agencies submitted formal extradition proposals to the Omani authorities. The CBI took up the Mahadev cases at the request of the Chhattisgarh government and has filed chargesheets under the Prevention of Corruption Act, provisions of the Indian Penal Code relating to criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery, and the Chhattisgarh Gambling (Prohibition) Act, according to the agency via ANI. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed Chandrakar's return, saying it was expected to help investigators uncover further details about the alleged syndicate, including those who allegedly received protection money.
