Legal metrology covers measurements that carry legal consequences in everyday trade — whether a shop's weighing scale records the correct quantity, a fuel dispenser delivers what it shows, or a package contains the quantity printed on it. The meeting's deliberations are expected to cover the development and revision of international recommendations, the OIML Certification System, capacity building and cooperation among countries, and to give India a platform to showcase its regulatory reforms, the PIB said. The agenda items are subjects for discussion at the meeting, not decisions already adopted.
