New Delhi, October 20 (sources: ANI; PalPal News Hub): Amid a growing debate comparing youth protests in India to unrest and regime changes in Nepal and Bangladesh, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) activist Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday issued a video statement on X rejecting those parallels and defending jailed colleagues Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. Dipke said Das and Ranka went to jail peacefully and with smiles, which he described as proof of a purely Gandhian Satyagraha.
"To those constantly pointing fingers saying, 'Look at what is happening in France…' have some shame and look at what is happening right here in India. In India, Sourav Das and Ashutosh went to jail with smiles on their faces. They didn't do anything like what is happening elsewhere," Dipke said, according to ANI. He added that the two chose peace and compassion even when, in his words, they believed they were being unlawfully imprisoned.
Separately, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday urged the Supreme Court to take note of the custody of Das and Ranka, whose judicial custody was extended by two days till October 21 after their surety was rejected over a reported mismatch in documents, their lawyers said. Raut warned, in his statement, that chaos would spread if the present government remained in power — a political claim by the opposition leader, reported as his statement.
The two CJP leaders were remanded for entering Delhi's Jantar Mantar in connection with an attempt to unfurl the national flag at the site in breach of prohibitory orders, according to reports. All statements above are the speakers' own claims, reported as such. Sources: ANI (via Daily Prabhat and APNA MA TV); PalPal News Hub.
