The summons came a day after Das and Ranka were released from Tihar Jail following a week in judicial custody. Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Ritu Raj had directed their release after they furnished personal bonds and surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each and gave written undertakings to maintain peace and not call for protests at Jantar Mantar until the site is de-notified in accordance with law, The Hindu reported.

Earlier this week, Delhi Police transferred the protest cases against the CJP leaders to the Crime Branch. The cases relate to allegations of trespassing into Jantar Mantar after it was de-notified as a designated protest site, disobeying police orders and obstructing public servants on duty. These are allegations under investigation, and the leaders were protesting against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, raising slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Das, Ranka and Shinde were detained on October 13 along with 11 others. Shinde was released on a bail bond, while Das and Ranka were remanded to judicial custody on October 14, which was extended on October 19. The SEM court has listed the custody matter for further proceedings on October 23 at 3 pm and directed the investigating officer to submit a report verifying the sureties.
