This was Gavit's second consecutive gold medal in the T47 400m at the Asian Para Games, having also won the event at the 2022 Hangzhou Games. He has been in sublime form at these Games — on Wednesday he also won the 100m T47 gold, Republic World reported.

The T47 category is for athletes with a below-elbow amputation, wrist amputation, or a similar upper-limb impairment affecting one arm. The one-two finish further boosted India's medal tally at the Games, where para athletics has been the contingent's biggest contributor.
