Nagoya, Oct 21 (IANS): India scripted another memorable finish in para athletics at the Asian Para Games in Nagoya on Wednesday, as Dilip Gavit Mahadu clinched the gold medal in the men's 100m T47 and Mohammed Basil Morssinganakathi secured the silver.

Gavit, who competes in the T46 category, won in 10.69 seconds. Basil, in the T47 category, finished in 10.72 seconds, a timing reported as a new Games Record for his class. Nation Press, reporting the same IANS result, confirmed the 10.69 and 10.72 timings and the Indian one-two.

The result replicated the pair's one-two finish at the Commonwealth Games 2026, where Gavit took gold and Basil silver in the same men's 100m T47 event, IANS said.

Gavit had earlier won gold in the men's 400m T47 at the 2022 Asian Para Games — India's historic 100th medal at those Games — and reached the final of the men's 400m T47 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Born in Toran Dongari village near Nashik in Maharashtra, he lost his right arm below the elbow after a childhood fall and gangrene, and was later coached by Vaijnath Kale, IANS reported.
